Four meetups a month in your city
A run, a supper, something outdoors and something quiet. Published on the first of each month, and you pick whichever ones you fancy.
Groups capped at sixteen
Small enough that you will speak to everybody. Every meetup is capped, and when one fills we open a second rather than let it grow.
A host at every single one
A named person whose job is to notice you arriving on your own. They introduce you to two people before anything else starts.
No cost to join
Membership is free. Some meetups involve paying for your own dinner or a trail permit, and that is always stated on the listing before you sign up.
Priority on festival places
Members get first access to the capped workshops at all three festivals, two weeks before general release.
It travels between our cities
If you move from Chicago to Denver, or visit for a weekend, your membership comes with you. Tell the host and somebody will meet you at the door.
How it works
Four steps, and about ninety seconds of it is admin.

Sign up and pick what you like
Four questions, about ninety seconds. Name, email, city, and the kinds of things you would actually turn up to. Nothing else is asked of you.

Get the month on the first
On the first of every month you receive your city calendar. Four meetups, each with the date, the cap, the host and the honest cost. You reply to the ones you want.

Turn up, and be met at the door
The host has your name. They will find you within the first two minutes and introduce you to two people. You will not be left standing at the edge of a room.

Come back, or do not
There is no attendance record and nobody chases you. Most people come to two or three in the first month and then settle into the one they liked.

I had colleagues and a gym and nobody to ring on a Sunday. Six weeks of this fixed a problem three years of trying had not.
Amara relocated to Charlotte for work in March 2023 and joined the Social Club in the May. She now hosts the South End supper club and designed the newcomer welcome that runs at every Charlotte gathering.
I joined for something to do on a Saturday. Four of these people showed up at my door with food during the worst week of my life.
Devon started with the Bronzeville walk-and-talk when it had three regulars. It now draws forty people on the first Sunday of the month and he co-hosts it, which he describes as the least likely thing he has ever done.
I moved from Houston knowing one person. The trail group had me on a mountain with eight strangers within a fortnight and I have not looked back.
Curtis joined two weeks after arriving in Denver and now volunteers on the altitude briefing that opens every Denver breathwork session, aimed at people in their first year in the city.
